Happy Hikers Community Impact

The Sun Prairie Happy Hikers strive to make on impact on their community.  

Past projects have included:
  • Making and delivering greeting cards to the nursing home/assisted living care center​
  • Planting & maintaining a flower bed in Sun Prairie
  • Holiday donations to Cards Closet
  • Clothing drive for Cards Closet
  • Diaper & Wipe drive for Shelter from the Storm Ministries
  • ​Participating in the Downtown Sun Prairie Scarecrow Contest
  • ​Park clean-up

What does a typically meeting look like?

There are officer reports, member presentations, snack and a large group activity.


Cloverbuds have separate gatherings at the same time as the older members.  Their time is spent with a project or activity; then they join the older members for snack and the large group activity.  



Meeting Time & Location

  • Typically the 1st Sunday of the month.​
  • Meetings are typically 6:30-7:30pm.
  • Meetings are held at the United Methodist Church
    in Sun Prairie.

Who can join Happy Hikers?

Happy Hikers 4H Club is for anyone in the Sun Prairie, WI area.  You can be interested in animals, other projects, presentation or community service.  

There are two group distinctions in 4H:
Cloverbuds = Kindergarten thru 2nd grade

Traditional 4H = Grades 3-12.

How do you join?

  • Come to a meeting and check it out.  
  • If you enjoyed yourself, JOIN US!
    • Enrollment Guide
    • Fill out the enrollment link
      • ​Enrollment deadline is November 1st
      • You have until March 1st to sign up for your fair projects.
    • Pay the membership fee to the Club Treasurer at the next meeting.​
  • To enter projects at the fair:
    • Attend at least 4 meetings per year.
    • Prepare a short presentation of the member's choice to the club, prepare a Cloverbud activity OR take part in a sub-committee (3rd-12th grade).
  • Parent Participation - parents play an active role in the club by:
    • Becoming a Project Leader
    • Helping monitor subcommittees (T-shirt, Community Giving, Club Activities, Blooming of Sun Prairie, Record Book Reading, etc.)
    • Helping with our major fundraiser, the Cornfest Ice-cream Booth.

How much does it cost?

Membership Fees (set by Dane County - subject to change):
$20-25 Youth Member (3rd-12th grade) 
$20-25 Youth Member in Horse Project (3rd-12th grade)
$3-5 Cloverbuds (K-2nd grade)


Discounts:
If the member and (1) parent work the Cornfest Ice-cream Booth, then the fees are dropped to $1/member.
